NESTOR MANUELIAN
Uruguayan born Nestor, started dancing Salsa in December 2002. Since then he has taken the salsa world by storm and has become one of Australia’s hottest dancers. He is renowned for his world class teaching and choreographies.
He made his performance debut in November 2003, where with less then a years training he placed 2nd in the annual Sydney Salsa Competition against some of Sydney’s highly decorated professionals. Since then he has gone on to win 6 nationally recognised competitions including the Sydney Salsa Competition for two consecutive years in 2004 and 2005 and 5 different Australian National titles, in Brisbane 2004, Sydney 2005, Perth and Adelaide 2006, and Sydney 2007. In 2007, Nestor together with his partner Lidia also won their first International title, the 'Asian Salsa Open' in Hong Kong.
Nestor's international schedule is also highly impressive, considering his short career, with performances and workshops at all of the major congresses around the world. He has been fortunate enough to perform in cities and countries like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Orlando, London, Rome, Milan, San Juan (Puerto Rico), Auckland, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Sydney and most major cities around Australia, and has received countless invitations more, a list that only a few of Australian dancers can match. Nestor’s great ability to teach earned him the honour of teaching at the biggest salsa congress in the world, the West Coast Salsa Congress in Los Angeles. He has also had the privilege of teaching for the most prestigious schools in Sydney.
Nestor proved his talent for teaching and choreography when in 2005, he trained a group of his students and in only 3 months, turned them into Australian Team Salsa Champions and then led them to an amazing 4th place in the World Salsa Championships in Las Vegas, against the best professional teams from around the world. His teaching and choreographing skills has also given him the opportunity to teach and choreograph for the Channel 7 hit Show, 'DANCING WITH THE STARS' and also feature in an epsiode of TVS's 'Latin Dance Alive' where he introduced Bachata to Australia. Nestor has also lead his team to the Australian Title for the 4 consecutive years and is still the only person to have his teams represent Australia at the World Salsa Championships!
